Design

Every piece is designed carefully with our community and the planet in mind. From our fabric selection and trims, to our printing choices and construction quality, every step and choice in the process is key to upholding CMNTY GRDN's ethos.

Fabric choice is paramount to us, that is why we only use fabrics made from organic natural fibres, recycled fibres or dead-stock fabric, which would otherwise be sent to landfill.

In an effort to account for every small detail, we have ensured our brand labels and size labels are all made from minimum 50% recycled damask polyester and our care labels are made from 100% recycled satin polyester.  We are currently in the process of switching all new labels to 100% cotton.

Packaging

Every aspect is carefully thought through when it comes to our packaging, and we are forever researching new, innovative ideas to reduce our impact on the planet for our packaging.

To minimise waste, we use minimal packaging at CMNTY GRDN by opting to ditch the swing tag and other unnecessary products, whilst still ensuring your orders are delivered safely.

As garments are manufactured locally, and sold exclusively online, this eliminates the need for individual garment bags.  Instead, your orders are wrapped carefully in 99.9% recycled eco kraft paper and packed into a 99.9% recycled mailing box, both of which are recyclable and compostable.  And to seal it all off we use tape made from 100% recycled paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which is curb-side recyclable and home-compostable after use.  We also recommend reusing the paper and mailing boxes where possible (eg. wrapping gifts for friends, or shipping items from your Depop store).

Our hygiene liners for our swim are plastic free and made from Commercially Compostable adhesive and wood pulp.  For our Australian community, find your local composter at https://www.compostconnect.org/

Product Care

While we ensure our pieces are designed and manufactured thoughtfully and responsibly to encourage quality and longevity, we implore that our community practise mindful habits with garment care as well.

We recommend spot cleaning first, where possible and only washing when completely necessary.   Cold hand washing is preferable and line drying in the shade.  Avoid hot water, tumble drying and harsh chemical detergents.  We also encourage repairing your garments where possible rather than discarding.

Together we can help reduce the chance of garments ending up in landfill and reduce energy consumption and water usage from over-washing.
